About Podcura
Who owns Podcura?
Podcura is an independent podiatry clinic founded and owned by Kelly Ashforth BSc (Hons) Podiatry, MRCPod, HCPC Registered Podiatrist.
Kelly graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Podiatry and is a member of the Royal College of Podiatry. Before retraining in podiatry, Kelly also completed both a degree and a Master’s degree in Biology.
Podcura was established to provide high-quality foot and ankle care in a welcoming and professional environment for patients across Nottingham, West Bridgford, Edwalton and Rushcliffe.
What does Podcura mean?
The name Podcura combines two words:
- Pod from the ancient Greek word relating to the foot.
- Cura, the Latin word meaning care.
Together, Podcura reflects our focus on providing professional foot and ankle care centred around the individual patient.

A podiatrist is a regulated healthcare professional specialising in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting the feet, ankles and lower limbs.

What is a Foot Health Practitioner?
A Foot Health Practitioner (FHP) is professionally trained to provide routine foot care and help patients maintain healthy feet.
At Podcura, Foot Health Practitioner Jackie Palmer Dip FHCP provides routine foot care and home visit appointments.
What is the difference between a podiatrist and a Foot Health Practitioner?
A podiatrist is trained to assess, diagnose and manage a wide range of foot, ankle and lower limb conditions and can provide advanced treatments such as biomechanics assessment, nail surgery and specialist interventions.
A Foot Health Practitioner focuses on routine foot care and maintenance, helping patients stay comfortable and maintain healthy feet.

Do you provide biomechanics assessments?
Yes.
Biomechanical assessment and gait analysis are an important part of understanding many foot, ankle and lower limb conditions.
Assessments may help identify factors contributing to:
- Heel pain
- Plantar fasciitis
- Arch pain
- Ankle pain
- Knee pain
- Running injuries
- Recurrent sporting injuries
Do you provide orthotics?
Yes.
Following assessment, orthotic therapy may be recommended where appropriate. This may include prefabricated or custom orthoses depending on your individual needs and clinical findings.
Do you offer nail surgery?
Yes.
We provide assessment and treatment for recurrent or persistent ingrowing toenails. Where conservative treatment is not appropriate or has not resolved symptoms, nail surgery may be discussed.
Do you offer verruca needling?
Yes.
Verruca needling may be considered for suitable persistent verrucae following clinical assessment and discussion of treatment options.
Do I need a GP referral?
No.
You can book directly with Podcura and do not require a GP referral.

Yes, subject to availability and location.
Home visits are provided by our Foot Health Practitioner and are particularly suitable for patients who have difficulty travelling to the clinic.

What happens during my first appointment?
Your initial appointment includes:
- Medical history review
- Foot health assessment
- Circulation assessment
- Sensation testing where appropriate
- Discussion of symptoms and concerns
- Explanation of treatment options
Any recommended treatment will be fully explained before proceeding.
